Editorial and research standards

A reader should be able to retrace the argument.

Every substantive research article

  1. The precise question being investigated.
  2. Primary sources with passage and edition.
  3. Relevant language evidence and its limitations.
  4. Historical context with evidence and uncertainty.
  5. Named traditional interpretations, accurately attributed.
  6. Academic research with bibliographic references.
  7. Genuine points of disagreement.
  8. Clearly labeled Assembly commentary.
  9. Questions for The Table and an appropriate learning practice.
  10. Authorship, review status, references and dated revisions.

Publication types

Tradition-specific teaching identifies its tradition and teacher. Comparative study distinguishes each tradition’s claims and methods. Assembly commentary is our interpretive contribution. Founding essays are published as commentary, not passed off as peer-reviewed research.

Rights and attribution

Identify translation, editor, edition, license, source URL, access date and any modifications before reproducing material. Permission for one version does not cover every version on a platform. Where rights are unclear, use a source link. Sefaria, manuscript institutions and other publishers are sources, not implied partners or endorsers.

Review workflow

Proposal → source and rights review → draft → subject review where needed → accessibility and copy review → publication → correction history. No automatic AI-to-publication pipeline is enabled. AI-assisted material is labeled, and named human review is only claimed when recorded.

Corrections and disagreement

Distinguish factual correction, translation revision and competing interpretation. Preserve a material correction’s date, reason and affected version. Do not erase an opposing view merely because it is inconvenient. Remove private information and unsafe content when needed, retaining restricted audit evidence appropriately.

Contributors and consent

Interview consent, quotation permission and image permission are separate decisions. A public story is never the price of assistance. No private submission endpoint is currently offered; do not post sensitive corrections or case information in public channels.
